Connecting/Creating/Pushing Boundaries

I am seeing a push for progressive stimulation in socially immersive environments, virtual or street.
Creativity is being infused into our collective consciousness.
Defined and empowered by technology, consumers are reinventing themselves, pushing creative boundaries, rebelling against the mainstream, and embracing controversy in favor of change and discovery. This trend is about Citizen-Creatives, and a current quest for uniqueness that is fueling a mash up of messages in and out of virtual and real space in a cacophony of noise and creative force.
I don’t think there will be a universal model that applies to the dynamics of networks but I feel Brands that succeed will be those that integrate a creative and interactive dialog into their products therefore maximizing the user experience as well as keeping the consumer engaged.
I saw a number of emerging technologies at the Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas last week that are providing new ways for consumers to share and “mix-it-up”. Social networking was a strong theme and interactivity a key concern. New devices such as Belkin’s Rock Star audio hub that lets people connect their MP3 players and headphones, a new way to share and mix music with friends.

Multiple playback devices can be connected to the hub, sharing the audio from each source simultaneously with multiple headphone ports, and letting users hear either a single song, or multiple songs mixed together.

Interrelated moments, interactivity and collaborative exchange.
The effects of this lifestyle change are becoming more evident as social nets rewrite the rules of interaction. Another example of interactive and creative participation is the new social networking site for the Microsoft Zune: the Zune Social is launching in beta, and it is incredible how addictive it is to be able to see what music your friends are playing and what their favorite artists are.
Today’s most compelling products — such as the MP3 — enable and facilitate experiences rather than merely delivering function. Consumers want to belong in a community that helps them discover their self-identity. This showcases a trend about innovation and reinvention, personal freedom and self-expression.

A personalized Zune Card can be created, which automatically updates to reflect the music that you’re listening to, while you can also invite friends, send and receive recommendations, post comments and build your own Zune profile page.
